Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Where do we meet our guide?

You will meet your experienced glacier guide 10-15 minutes before the scheduled departure time at the Sólheimajökull parking lot by the toll gate, located at the end of Route 221, 871 Vík, Iceland. This meeting point is where all necessary safety equipment (helmets, crampons, and harnesses) is provided, and you'll receive a thorough safety briefing before the start of your up to 3-hour adventure.

  • What should I bring to the tour?

We provide all essential glacier safety gear (helmet, crampons, harness); however, you must dress appropriately for Icelandic weather. We strongly recommend warm, waterproof layers, waterproof hiking boots (they can often be rented if you don't have them), a hat, gloves, and sunglasses. Bringing a small backpack with water and a snack is also a good idea for the roughly one hour spent walking directly on the ice.

  • What if the weather is bad?

In Iceland, tours often proceed in light rain or snow, but your safety is our top priority. If extreme weather or safety concerns force Hrafnar Guides to cancel your tour, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule at no extra cost. Please note that our guides may adjust the itinerary or route to ensure your safety without prior notice, and their decisions regarding safety are final.

  • What if I have to cancel my tour?

Cancellations made more than 7 days before the tour are eligible for a 100% refund, or the amount can be converted into credit valid for 12 months. Cancellations between 7 days and 48 hours before the tour receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the tour, and 'no-shows' (guests who do not arrive without notice), are non-refundable. All cancellations or modifications must be submitted in writing via email to hello@hrafnarguides.is.
