Overview

The Geothermal Lava Hike takes you off the beaten path through Iceland's most recently reshaped landscapes. Following the 'Path of the Raven,' your private guide leads you across the fresh, cooled lava fields of Fagradalsfjall – terrain born from eruptions that made international headlines – for a hiking experience unlike anything else in Iceland.

Along the way, you'll explore the dramatic steaming vents and boiling mud pools of the Krýsuvík geothermal area, stop at the historic Krýsuvíkurkirkja wooden church, and witness the resilience of Grindavík, the coastal town that lived through volcanic devastation. A local lunch in Grindavík breaks up the day before an optional soak at the nearby Blue Lagoon.

Because this is a private tour, the guide, the vehicle, and the pace are entirely yours. The route may be adjusted based on local safety conditions – something your guide will manage in real time.
